Bob

Bob is a recurring character in Season 1 of Atypical. He was the boss of Sam Gardner and Zahid at Techtropolis. Bob is portrayed by actor Jeffrey Rosenthal.

Biography[]

Throughout from the Season 1 to Season 4, Bob is very generous to both, Sam and Zahid, and he is proud of their great work at managing customers. Despite that, he isn't a passive pushover or a "yes man" when it comes to not being above enabling his workers to get away with breaking his rules. Outside of Techtropolis, in the episode "Pants on Fire", he catches Zahid smoking marijuana, so he gives him a warning to not do it again next time. In the episode "Shrinkage" of the third Season, after he returned from his vacation to Jamaica, Bob is informed by Sam that he discovers, through a security footage, that Gretchen stole a turquoise fitbit from the store. However, acting as the substitute top manager, Zahid refuses to acknowledge it as a theft. Instead, he marks it down as a shrinkage. Enraged, Bob bans Gretchen from the store, and he gives Zahid one more chance to redeem himself. Otherwise, Zahid is fired from his job forever.

Regardless, Bob is still a reasonable man who makes an exception to his rule for his workers. In the episode "Sam Takes a Walk", Bob allows Sam (who burned Zahid's favorite shirt accidentally) off the hook for the Techtropolis fire, because he realized that it is highly unusual for a display model stove to be hooked up, unless someone was actually living there. A meaner boss would have taken it out on Sam and even fired him easily, on the other hand.

In the episode "You Say You Want a Revolution" of the final Season, Techtropolis ends up bankrupt, due to low stock sells to customers. Sam (being upset that he won't be able to raise money from his job to travel to Antarctica) asks Bob if the employees can still work here. Bob says yes to Sam, as he orders his employees to get back to business for the time being. At Sam's house, Bob comes up with the idea of opening a successor store to Techtropolis called "Bobtropolis".
