Chuck was a minor character and a middle-aged adult in Atypical. He was the closest friend of Doug Gardner at the EMT workplace as a paramedic. Chuck is portrayed by actor Karl T. Wright.

Biography[]

In the first Season, Chuck is first seen with Doug near their ambulance vehicle. Frequently, Chuck talks about his retirement plans to Doug coming up throughout each Seasons. In other words, Chuck is getting sick of working at EMT, since he is getting old.

In the final Season, Doug gets a phone call in his house kitchen that Chuck had passed away from a heart attack. Chuck died on his retirement day. Shortly after passing Doug finds Chuck’s 13 year old sourdough starter in the work fridge and brings it home to keep in his fridge, until Doug's wife, Elsa, threw it away thinking it was old yoghurt. This infuriated Doug as it was Chuck’s bread making legacy.

  • Chuck is one of the few deceased characters, alongside Nick's friend, Meatball, and the Antarctic explorer, Niles Blanderman.
  • He was probably the same age as Doug or even older than him.
  • Chuck used to make sourdough bread which he named “Chuck’s Crust”.
  • He wasn’t told by Doug that his son, Sam, has autism until Season 2.
  • He is African-of-descent, like Amber, Sharice, and Coach Briggs.
