Gretchen is a troublemaking girl, whom Zahid falls in love with in Season 3 of Atypical. Gretchen is portrayed by actress Allie Rae Treharne.
Biography[]
In the episode "Y.G.A.G.G." of the third Season, Gretchen is first introduced to Zahid when he and Sam went to an art jam party. Zahid meets Gretchen behind a dumpster, they both smoke cigarettes and start listening to Miley Cyrus. After this, they both start dating with each other.
In the episode "Only Tweed", Zahid and Gretchen are both invited to the Gardner's house for a romantic couple dinner, alongside Izzie Taylor and Paige Hardaway, by Sam and Casey Gardner. During their dinner, while Sam and Paige both talk about their good times at their own separate colleges, she says that attending college is a waste of time and money for students, and that learning from the internet is useful and free in the real-world, antagonizing Sam for going in the wrong path and ticking off him, Casey, and Paige. Sam and Paige both also begin to dislike her, and correct her about college being worth attending to pursue their dreams. The dinner ends with Gretchen leaving the Gardner's house.
In the episode "Shrinkage", Gretchen appears to have a defiant personality, as Sam later discovers through a Techtropolis security footage that she stole a turquoise fitbit from the store. Sam tries to convince Zahid, who is acting as the manager, while Bob, the real manager, is away on vacation, but Zahid refuses to acknowledge it as a theft. Instead, he marks it down as a shrinkage. After being given some advice on doing the right thing, Sam reports the incident to Bob when he returns from vacation. Enraged, Bob bans Gretchen from the store and puts Zahid on thin ice. Furious, Zahid ends his close friendship with Sam, and he later announces that he is getting married to Gretchen.
In the episode "Searching for Brown Sugar Man", at a casino, Sam, Paige, Casey and Abby all track down and try to disrupt Zahid's wedding. Unexpectedly, Gretchen tells them that her ex-boyfriend, Gavin, asked her to get back together again and she agreed, dumping Zahid. In the batting cage room, Sam tracks down Zahid and they both reconcile their close friendship, after he takes a direct hit from a baseball to defend Zahid, indicating that he is always there for his bro.
In the episode "Are You in Fair Health" of Season 4, greatly shocking Sam and Paige at Sam's apartment, Zahid and Gretchen both got back together and made out after Zahid was informed by a doctor at a hospital that he has testicular cancer on his right testicle.
In the episode "Channel the Cat", Gretchen and Zahid both also have sex with each other in Zahid's bedroom next to Sam's bedroom at his apartment, making a loud noise that prevents Sam from concentrating on his work. When Paige is trying to figure on how to please Sam, Gretchen provides advice to Paige about showing her sexual body part to him, similar to how Gretchen does to Zahid in their relationship. However, Gretchen's relationship with Zahid ends again and he remains single until he ends up together with a very attractive woman in the last episode of the entire series.
